Moving Tips & FAQ's
The days leading up to your moving day are often the most important, beginning the moving process as early as possible is often the best way of ensuring a stress-free move. Well-organized moves often take less time, saving you money and helping to avoid any fatigue-related accidents. Here are some moving tips to try and follow to ensure a smoother moving process.
Leading to Moving Day
- Do not wait to pack last minute as this often results in the move taking longer than expected.
- Declutter; moving preparation is often the best time to sort through some of your items that are no longer in use.
- Pack items in secure and sturdy boxes to avoid any unnecessary accidents.
- Label boxes (e.g., Rooms, Fragile).
- Ensure hung clothing is packed in appropriate bags or wardrobe boxes.
- Try to unpack wardrobes and dressers; however, some light items can be left in drawers as long as they are not fragile.
- Ensure the house you are moving out of is neatly prepped for our movers to avoid any tripping hazards (e.g., boxes along walls).
- If moving into an apartment with an elevator, ensure that the elevator is booked or you have acquired an elevator key. Also, ensure the elevator has protective blankets hung if necessary.
- Moving provides an excellent opportunity to defrost your deep freezer (this requires unplugging the freezer 24 hours before your move).
- If we conduct an on-site visit, it often helps to be upfront with us about items being moved to avoid any surprises on moving day, which can result in extra costs.
- In the case of a winter move, please de-ice any paths or areas our movers will likely be walking on.
